If you are near Eugene, Oregon mid-week, the Jewish Genealogical Society of Willamette Valley is presenting a program that I wish I could attend.
The meeting is at 7.30pm Wednesday, October 10.
Leona Maltz will speak about her ancestor - Abraham Zacuto - the mapmaker for Christopher Columbus.
A branch of Zacuto's family migrated to Turkey after the Spanish Inquisition and Maltz is a descendant of that branch. Another branch went to Amsterdam, and there are others in Israel, Argentina and perhaps Brazil.
