Jerusalem Post: Before it's too late

Many survivors are elderly and time is running out to have them submit Pages of Testimony to Yad Vashem's online database.

JFRA Israel, one of two Jewish genealogy societies in Israel, is contributing to the collection and submittal of Pages of Testimony, by visiting residents in retirement communities and nursing homes and assisting individuals to complete forms.

The five-branched society developed the program when members began reporting that they were meeting survivors and others who had never submitted Pages for family members.

The volunteers work with residents one-on-one, first check to make sure that names are not duplicates of existing Pages of Testimony. They've been successful in adding new Pages as well as photographs to existing Pages.

I was delighted to have the opportunity to spotlight the work of this society for the Jerusalem Post's weekly Metro on October 5. "Before it's too late" is now in the Online Edition.
