Program coordinator Pamela Weisberger wants all Galitzianers to mark their calendars for the fourth annual Gesher Galicia regional meeting is set from 11.30am-1p.m. Sunday, October 21, at the Center for Jewish History, 15 W. 16th Street, New York City.
The program will include the Lviv archives cadastral map and homeowner/landowner records project; JRI-Poland update; shtetl trip/cemetery restoration report by Linda Cantor; Daniel Mendelsohn's Bolechow Jewish Heritage Society (BJHS) report by Joan Adler, and a screening of the short film "Past Lives: The Stanley Diamond Story."
1-2pm: Attendees will meet over lunch in informal Galician town and region research groups and birds-of-a-feather networking.
2pm: Susana Leistner Bloch of Winnipeg will discuss "Recreating your Shtetl - Why and How," which will demonstrate how to create a group and website dedicated to your ancestral towns.
Bloch - an animated, passionate speaker - and I share roots in Suchastow near Skalat. She has done a great job in providing information for our mutual shtetl and so many other towns in the region.
Weisberger asks those interested in coordinating or leading a town or region research group BOF during the event (lunch-hour), should contact her.
