Author Roma Baran ("One Woman's Journey") will speak at the next meeting of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island, on Sunday, November 22.The event begins at 2pm at the Mid-Island Y-JCC, Plainview.
A New York-based engineer, musician, attorney and filmmaker who grew up in Montreal, Roma learned about her hidden history about a year ago when a genealogist contacted her searching for family connections.
For the first time, she realized that her parents had hidden from her the fact that they were Jews.
Roma will describe – in photos, documents and maps – how she has systematically reconstructed the story of her large family.
