Italy: Jewish studies conference, July 2010

The 10th Congress of the European Association for Jewish Studies will be held July 25-29, 2010, in Ravenna, Italy. It will run from Sunday afternoon to Thursday evening.

The call for papers has been made; the theme is "Judaism in the Mediterranean Context."

Proposals for papers are welcome from all scholars in the various fields of Jewish studies. Categories include:

Biblical History and Archaeology
Biblical Literature and Language
Second Temple Judaism
Jews and Judaism in Late Antiquity
Rabbinic Literature
Medieval Jewish History
Medieval Jewish Literature
Manuscripts, Codices and Books
Early Modern History (1492-1600)
Modern Jewish History (1600-1933)
Modern Jewish Literature
Jewish Languages
Jewish Arts
Contemporary Jewish History (after 1933)
Jewish Philosophy
Jewish Mysticism, Kabbalah, Magic

The conference language is English. Lectures are 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion. Send the title and a 300-word abstract via email to the Congress, by October 31, indicating the best category, along with a brief CV and contact details.
